Mechanical Switches |
Precise with haptic and auditory feedback for more clicky goodness
|
Mechy has 10 mechanical switches to make the most of their superior properties like longer life-time, faster and consistent actuation. Also the clicky goodness that we all love isn’t just sensory satisfaction, it tells our ears and fingers when the switch is actuated through auditory and haptic feedback. The more feedback you have the more you can improve your gaming which only mechanical switches can provide.
Mechanical switches have many advantages like a life-time of over 50 Million actuations which means consistent gaming control for years and years. All these reasons and more are the inspiration for the Mechy game controller.
Who doesn’t want faster, precise and consistent gaming? The ten mechanical switches are utilized in the Mechy layout as four action buttons, two shoulder buttons and four switches for a fully mechanical directional pad.
Early Mechy prototypes had Cherry MX Blue switches, which are nice to use. However we have found a heavier spring is required for button when using thumbs and low profile switches are more suitable for the shape of the controller.

Two ALPS thumb-sticks and triggers |
Thumb-sticks and triggers are made by Alps™ another popular mechanical switch manufacturer. So, you can expect the same precise and consistent performance from these components, the thumb-sticks are the traditional and reliable 2-axis sticks with a built-in press button.
Ergonomic Design
|
Not just saying, ergonomically inspired and comfortable
|
Mechy’s design is based around ergonomic principles, employing a combination of the “external precision grip” and the “power grip”. The “external precision grip” is the same grip surgeons use to perform surgery and the “power grip” is the same you would use to hold a hammer. So, you get the best of both worlds for power and precision when using a Mechy.
Battery
|
When using Bluetooth, Mechy is powered by a reliable and tested by time “Nokia Phone” style battery with over 1000mAh Li-Ion capacity for hours of gaming. The battery is removable and can recharged in the controller via USB.
Connectivity |
Mechy can connect to your PC or Smart Phone and depending on the success of the Kickstarter campaign even some consoles! Mechy has a USB2.0 micro connector for charging and wired gaming. Also, Mechy connects to Bluetooth LE 4.0 adapters and devices. BLE 4.0 advantages over traditional Bluetooth include quick connection time (a fraction of a second, rather than up to 30 seconds) and significantly reduced power consumption, so you can connect quickly and game for hours.
Re-programmable
|
Mechy’s firmware can be updated via USB to improve current features and add new features. Depending on community interest the firmware will be made open source for anyone to tinker and customize their controller.
RGB LEDs
|
Mechy will have internal LEDs for the RGB that you crave. Depending on the success of the Kickstarter the type of the internal layout LED layout will range from single fixed color, single color select-able, to fully independently programmable LEDs.
